How to Download TikTok Stories Anonymously (Before They Disappear)

TikTok Stories expire after 24 hours, just like on Instagram. Sometimes you want to save a funny or important story before it’s gone forever. Furthermore, you might want to save it anonymously, without the creator seeing your name in their “Viewed” list.

Does TikTok Notify When You Download a Story?

If you use the official app’s “Save Video” feature, TikTok doesn’t send a notification that you downloaded it, but the creator will know you viewed it.

However, if you use Tikup, you don’t even need to be logged in. In fact, you can copy the link from a browser where you aren’t logged in, or get the link from a friend, and download it without ever viewing it with your main account.

How to Save Stories

1. Open the Story: Tap the blue ring around a creator’s profile picture.
2. Copy Link: Tap the three dots (…) or Share arrow in the bottom right corner. Select Copy Link.
   • Note: If you want to be 100% anonymous, don’t open the story with your logged-in account. Use a “burner” account or copy the link from a web browser in Incognito mode.

Limitations

• Public Stories Only: You cannot download stories from private accounts or “Friends Only” stories using online tools. The account must be public.
